Today, Sunday 8th March is a UK-wide Covid-19 Day of Reflection. In commemoration and recognition of the loss that was endured during the Covid-19 pandemic. Remembering loved ones we lost ❤️❤️ and how the community joined together to support and protect our older and vulnerable members of the community. Our Town Council have sponsored a tree, which was planted this morning at the Halesworth Volunteers Office at the Patrick Stead Day Care Centre. The tree is an olive tree, a sign of peace and a sapling at the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020.Reverend Dominic Doble said a few words and reflected on the effect that Covid-19 had in our community and blessed the tree. ... It was the first Tuesday of the month today and that means it was Coffee & Catch Up at Chinny’s. We were disappointed to learn at the start of the year that the contract for the NHS Talking Therapies, socials and peer support was coming to an end in January. This is a huge loss to many in the Norfolk and Waveney area. Steve Warner started the social in Halesworth about 8 years ago and the group has continued to thrive and grow, regularly attracting 20+ people each month. It became a joint project with HV during Covid. Thank you Steve for all you have done for Halesworth and the support you have offered to the group. We will miss you, but hope you will visit us from time to time. It was great to reminisce today about all the fun times we have had as a group, the Marina Theatre tour, Redwings, Carlton Marshes and the Norwich City game and Carrow Road Stadium tour to name a few! HV will continue the social on the first Tuesday of the month at Chinny’s from 12-2pm.Here are a few photos from lunchtime. Hope you enjoy your pressies Steve. COYY! 💛💚 ... See MoreSee Less

It was a pleasure to welcome over 35 guests to the Patrick Stead Day Care Centre for our monthly Community Lunch last Wednesday. We served a choice of homemade soup - pea & ham, parsnip & apple and of course everyone's favourite, leek & potato, filled rolls, crisps and cake, all followed by a tea or coffee. Thank you to our wonderful team of volunteers who either made soup, baked cakes, prepared food, or helped at lunch. Also, thanks to Colin for picking some of our lunch guests up on the Hoppa bus.It was also the perfect opportunity for us to officially thank Ricky Hardy for raising £2,400.00 for us through Falling For Funds! An absolutely incredible achievement Ricky, well done and thank you so much. We are full of admiration for you and your courage and bravery.Next month Community Lunch will return to St Mary's Church, we are hoping the milder Spring weather will continue. Thanks to the trustees of Friends of Halesworth Community Health & Care for the use of the Day Centre for January & February. If you would like to be included on our contact list for our lunches, socials and trips out and about please contact us on 01986 875600 or email info@halesworthvolunteers.org ... See MoreSee Less
