If you cannot travel independently and are struggling to get to that all important health appointment or social visit, then the Community Car Service is for you. HVC has been running our service for over 30 years. Our team of volunteer drivers always go that extra mile to ensure that you get where you need to be. We charge 45p per mile to cover our volunteer’s expenses. To book a car, please ring 01986 874290.

We can get you where you need to go. We take our passengers to the doctors, the opticians, the hairdressers - wherever you have an appointment. We will also take you to hospital - we can go as far afield as Bury St Edmunds or Addenbrookes or to all our local hospitals and private clinics.

If there is no food in the house, we can take you shopping or even do your shopping for you.

Using the Service for the first time? It couldn't be easier!!

1. Check that your journey will be eligible, just ring our Community Car Team on 01986 874290
2. Phone our Community Car team to arrange your journey, the more notice you can give us, the better
3. Your driver will collect you as arranged and drive you to your destination and home again
4. Remember, for trips to the hospital and longer journeys, it is always better to give us plenty of notice. So as soon as you get told about your appointment, give us a call. For all other trips, telling us a couple of days in advance really helps
