PACING TO PAGET

Our Captain Fantastic Shaun will be walking 40 kilometres around Halesworth on 23rd April

Shaun is Pacing to Paget or walking 40 kilometres - the same distance from our office to the James Paget Hospital.  Shaun or our Captain Fantastic as we like to call him, is going that extra mile because he knows how much Halesworth Volunteers does to make lives better.

On the 23rd April, Chief Shaun will be walking 40 kilometres around Halesworth.  He will be stopping off at favourite places and would love to see you on the day.

Shaun is raising funds for Halesworth Volunteers, not just because he is a super hero (though like all our volunteers, he is) but because he knows that our service makes all the difference.

Mrs D really struggled when her husband died, but she was too proud to ask for help.  When Shaun took her for a routine appointment at the Paget, he could see how lovely she was.  He told her about our Community Lunches and asked if she might like to go along.  Now Mrs D goes every month, she has made a lovely group of friends and even met up with someone she used to be at school with.  She still misses her husband every day but she has something to look forward to.  This is just one of the ways that Halesworth Volunteers can make lives better.

We get people to their appointments, provide befriending support to people who live alone, we walk dogs and do people's shopping.  Anything that helps an older person or someone who is struggling to live the best  life they can.

We also run Halesworth Community Larder, a place for everyone, where you share food, swap food or get vital household supplies if you are struggling.

By supporting Shaun as he strides round Halesworth, you too can make a difference and make local lives better.

Please see our Just Giving Page if you would like to make a donation.

5K's run 5K for £5K

We did it!

Saturday was the day of our fundraising event at Sizewell Parkrun.  It was a chilly and blustery morning in Sizewell but we didn't let that stop us!  And we were still smiling afterwards, all be it rather hot and sweaty!  A massive thank you to everyone who has donated so far.  We have now raised just over £4.6k, which is absolutely incredible and we are heading towards our target of £5k, which we thought would be impossible to reach.  Thank you to everyone who baked and bought cakes.  Also, thank you very much to everyone who joined us at Sizewell to cheer us on, your support was much appreciated.  If you haven't already, and would like to donate it's not too late, our Just Giving page is still open.  Thanks again to everyone who has supported us.

The Queens's Award for Voluntary Services - A Halesworth Celebration

On 9th December 2022, we were honored to receive the Queen's Award for Volunteering.

Many of us had a tear in the eye when we finally received our Queen's Award and a beautiful certificate signed by Her Majesty the Queen.  Clare, Countess of Euston, our Lord-Lieutenant gave a very moving address, reminding us of the amazing service of our late Queen Elizabeth, but also explaining that this is a very personal Award and the Queen would have taken time to find out about the work of our fantastic volunteers.

This award recognizes the amazing contribution our volunteers have made to the community.

It was wonderful to see so many of our volunteers, old and new at our celebration.  As well as trustees, service users and representatives from other local groups and organizations.

Thank you to Reverend Dominic Doble and St Mary's Church for hosting such a lovely event.
